Academic Programs
Employment and Labor Relations BA and MA
Labor@Wayne, in cooperation with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, offers two degree programs to serve the needs of students interested in employee and labor relations. Our programs are interdisciplinary, including elements of labor studies, labor history and economics, and dispute resolution, as well as work in human resource management.
Wayne State is a proudly diverse campus. We understand that your path to a degree may not have been a straight line from high school, and you can be assured that your classes will include a mix of traditional younger and older students (see our programs for adult learners). Similarly, our program includes both die-hard union members and activists as well as those exploring careers in management.
The Undergraduate Major
The undergraduate degree is worth 120 credit hours. The major itself is worth 32 of those hours. Every student in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is expected to choose a major and a minor, and to complete two courses in the same foreign language (foreign languages may include traditional languages like Spanish or Russian or Italian, or it could be fulfilled with American Sign Language). We will work with you to maximize credits earned at other institutions along the way so that you can move toward degree as quickly as possible. Wayne State offers many scholarships designed to help students bring a college degree with reach, including the new Wayne State Guarantee, which could mean your degree tuition and fees could be reduced to zero.

The Masters Degree
Students who already hold an undergraduate degree may apply to our graduate program. Many of our students are already holding full-time jobs, so our courses are available either in the evening or online. (We anticipate moving all of the core courses online in the next year.) Our progam crosses departments and colleges to give you maximum flexibility to meet your interest and needs.
